Umbra design studio with prototypes

About Umbra

Umbra original design starts with overlooked details.

Umbra was built around the belief that everyday home products deserve original thinking. A curtain rod, frame, hook, waste can, organizer, mirror, or small decor object may look simple, yet it has to solve a real interaction every day without making the room feel crowded.

Vision 2030

A design roadmap for flexible homes.

Homes are becoming more layered: remote work corners, rental-friendly updates, small bathrooms, hybrid guest rooms, compact entryways, and open shelves that need visual calm. Umbra looks at those changes as design opportunities rather than decoration trends. The next generation of products must be easier to install, easier to restyle, easier to merchandise, and more honest about how people actually use their rooms.

01

Adaptive Display

Frames, hooks, mirrors, and shelves need to move with changing art, habits, rentals, and family routines.

02

Cleaner Surfaces

Organizers should give back counter space while still keeping daily items visible enough to use.

03

Better Hardware

Curtain rods and brackets should feel architectural, not like an afterthought added after the room is complete.

04

Giftable Function

Home accessories can be meaningful gifts when they solve a real need and carry a clear design story.

Milestones

Four decades of making useful objects more considered.

Umbra history is not just a list of product releases. It is a pattern of finding household categories that people tolerate rather than love, then asking whether a more original shape, smarter installation detail, or warmer material combination can make the object feel worthy of the room.

1979

Design Studio Begins

The early focus was simple: create affordable, original home products with more personality than standard utility goods.

1990s

Display Becomes Flexible

Frames, wall accessories, and decorative objects opened new ways to personalize spaces without custom renovation.

2000s

Storage Gets Visible

Organizers, hooks, bins, and bathroom pieces started treating storage as part of the room, not something to hide.

Today

Design Across Categories

Umbra connects soft furnishings, curtain hardware, decor, and storage into a modern home language for global buyers.

Collaborative Network

Partners who help original design reach real rooms.

Umbra works through a broad ecosystem: retailers that need clear shelf stories, interior professionals who need dependable design objects, hospitality planners who need repeatable room details, and homeowners who want products that feel considered without feeling precious. Each partner group teaches the design team where products must be more intuitive.
